9/3/18 The Trail to the Cliff Dwellings: Part 2

Looking back at the cliff dwellings, you can see what a well protected place the people who built these dwellings chose.

One final look.

180 steps up! 180 steps down!

More spectacular views on the way down!
Last night the temperatures were down in the 50s. Today they rose to the 80s. Often in the afternoon, storms start rolling in and you can see that it's raining somewhere far away! (and sometimes it's raining right where you are!)
See how the trail switches back and you go down the cliff?

I saw many lizards on the way down because the trail is on the open cliff-side where there are lots of rocks where lizards can sun themselves and catch ants.
This lizard posed for me! It's a Spiny Lizard and is about 6 inches long.

See the lizard in the middle of the photo? I think because it rained last night and was cool and cloudy in the morning, the lizards came out as soon as the sun started to shine.
This lizard was about 3 inches long. He scampered away very quickly.
